1092233 | 92-U -233 | ENDF/B-VII.1 | EVALUATION MODIFICATIONS The ENDF/B-VII.1 evaluation is a modification of the ENDF/B- VII.0 evaluation to correct the cross sections and angulardistributions of the ground-state rotational band of 233U, i.e.,MF=3,4, MT=51,52,53,55,58,65. The correction was required because the compound-nucleus components for these states in the Version VIII.0 evaluation did not take proper account of fission competition. In addition, the inelastic cross section below 1 MeV exhibited an anomalous peak, mainly due to MT=51,52. The following changes were made: 1. The compound nucleus cross sections for MT=51,52,53,55,58,65 were re-calculated and combined with the direct components from ECIS calculations. 2. The MF=4, MT=53,55,58,65 data were replaced with these data. 3. The MF=3, MT=53,55,58,65 data were also replaced with these data. 4. The corrected results for MF=3,4, MT=51,52 were found to inadequately reproduce the measurements of Haouat et. al (Ha82 below). It was surmised that the deformed optical model potential used in the evaluation might not be adequate at incident energies below approximately 1.0-1.5 MeV. Therefore, to correct this problem, the compound nucleus contributions to these states were scaled by a single factor to produce better agreement with the Haouat et al. experiment. The difference in the inelastic cross section was absorbed in the elastic cross section. 5. The data were modified for MF=3,4, MT=2,51,52 (the MT=2 change was small). |
